Finally we're back.

After many many delays we're back and should be able to keep a runnin'.  The raptors are continuing to come in. Will be sharing a lot of pictures with everyone to catch you up. Do remember that all the pictures are copyrighted and the property of us or the photographer.
Picture
This a juvenile Red tail Hawk that came to us from Baxley, Ga. via Laurens Wildlife in Dublin, Ga. Laurens is a subpermittee of our raptor permit so they can hold raptors for transfer to us. In some pictures we have used a pepsi can(no Pepsi does not pay us) for contrast so you can get an idea of size. This young lady dwarfed the can so bad we had to go to the next best option, a 2 liter bottle. Notice she is not standing on her feet, so she is not presenting at full size. This is a big ol' baby. She is doing well and her "coming out" pictures will follow. She has now feathered out looks different.
This year has been very wet and overcast so we are behind on pictures.
You can go to www.pikecountytimes.com and visit Becky's home page. Scroll down it to the para about raptor in central Ga. Click on it and you can see some very good pictures of our new flight pens. She did a very good job with the story. Community Foundation of Central Georgia awarded us the Paul Grant for $2000.00 and have worked on the new unit with volunteers between weather fronts for a year. All 5 units are now occupied.
The problem we are facing is food. Our feed bills are averaging between $8oo and &1000.00 a month and we are now facing the migration. All the Northern birds are going to come south to spend the winter. Our freezers have plenty of space for mice and rats.
Thanks to all for your support and donations. We are hanging on by our fingernails so don't forget us for tax exempt donations.
I much prefer sharing good stories and great pictures but we need help. No one in this Non-profit has ever received a paycheck. Everything goes right back into your wildlife.
Thanks for listening and don't stray to far.........I'll be back.

Proud of this girl! I pulled her out of a poison ivy bed in the woods behind my sister's house near Deen Landing on the Altamaha. So pleased she is doing so well!

Your story has the attraction and story about the raptor. Mostly it is a bird of the prey and very sharp. In this picture, raptor looking so cute and angry too. I like your story and you know you make my day by publishing this story.
